Campaigns

Since 2012, there have been 3 main recurring campaigns on campus – Divest McGill, Demilitarize McGill, and McGill Against Austerity. In 2018, another campaign was started, Drop Fees Not Bombs. Although each of these campaigns have different links and relationships with SSMU External Affairs, they each function separately from the office, with the groups organizing themselves, most often in a non-hierarchical fashion. The link between these campaigns and SSMU External Affairs is usually through the Campaign Coordinators, who are organizers on campus whose job is to help newer campaigns get off the ground, provide institutional memory on activism at McGill, and to be the link of communication between the SSMU External Affairs Office and the various campaigns.
